Glenn Weiser has been teaching private music lessons in the Capital District of New York State for over 25 years. He is the the author of ten instruction books for guitar and harmonica, a columnist for music magazines, and a Rounder Records guest artist. Described as a "master teacher" by Acoustic Guitar magazine, he teaches in Albany, Latham, Delmar, Troy, and Clifton Park on the following instruments: guitar, harmonica, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle. The styles he teaches include acoustic and electric blues, bluegrass, Celtic, classical, country, acoustic fingerstyle, folk, old-timey, & classic rock. He also has an extensive tab library available to students containing hundreds of pop and rock song transcriptions from guitar books and magazines such as Guitar One and Guitar World. | |
Glenn took formal classical guitar lessons with maestro Paul Battat and studied music theory while in high school, and switched to steel-string acoustic guitar shortly afterwards. He also learned mandolin, banjo, harmonica and fiddle. His first book, Fiddle Tunes for Harmonica, was published in 1987 and was followed by several other volumes on fingerstyle guitar and harmonica. He has also written for Acoustic Guitar, King Biscuit Time, Acoustic Musician and Sing Out! magazines. Locally, he writes for the alternative newsweekly Metroland and performs at festivals, coffeehouses, nightclubs, and weddings. |
