Corus 2003 at Wijk aan Zee
The 65th Corus chess tournament
Once again the sleepy coastal village of Wijk Aan Zee and the
steel magnate Corus hosted one of the most important events of the
chess year. A 13 Round robin category 19 is the main event of the festival
with awesome, excciting games guaranteed. They also have a category 11
international and many more events for every level and age. Once again, the
world's top ranked player Garry Kasparov has declined an invitation
(bok bok bok:)) but even so the field was extremely strong (average ELO 2702!)
headed by the two world champions, FIDE's Ponomariov and
"Einstein's" Kramnik.
