Wolga-Benko Gambit

This might well be the most "correct" (or at least interesting) gambit opening for Black. This has been proved many times by Michael Adams. Even world champion Kasparov sometimes plays this gambit.

Kings Gambit

This somewhat oldfashioned opening might be "refuted" on a super-grandmaster level. However, for mere humans it is still an interesting opening for the attacking player!

Sokolsky Opening

This opening is not as bad as it looks!

French Opening - 3.Nd2

This is one of the most interesting lines of the French Defense (just a personal opinion).

The Blackmar-Diemer Gambit

The Blackmar-Diemer Gambit is very rare in master games. However, it is good enough as a surprise opening.

The following PGN file contains several hundred games played with this opening. Only games where the gambit is accepted are included, thus the opening moves are 1.d4 d5 2.e4 dxe4 or permutations thereof.

The Budapest Gambit

This rather strange opening has been invented and developed in Budapest chess circles in 1917.

The Bird Opening

The Bird opening is named after H. E. Bird (1830 - 1910), an english gentleman that transformed the "useless" move 1.f4 to a opening system.

Even today many players are surprised, sometimes shocked when they come across this seldom played move. This is a great chance for those players who strive to avoid the usual paths of opening theory!

The following zip-compressed file (if you need a different compression format, please send us an email!) contains nearly 3000 games played with this opening.
