"Is the chess board I already own, the right size for my set?"
Selecting the size of a chess board for a
particular set should be based upon personal preference, especially
for casual play. However, there is a guideline for tournament play
that may be of help in selecting the proper square size for the set. The 75% Guideline states that the base
diameter of the king should be no more than 75% of the chess
board square size. For casual play, however, the chess board
square size for the set is totally up to you as long as the pieces do
not easily collide as they are moved. Please keep in mind that
having squares that are too large may by unattractive as the chess
pieces can become lost in a sea of chess board
squares.
"Should I use a chess box with a theme chess set?"
We do not recommend using a chess box with
an open compartment for a theme chess set especially if the pieces
are hand-painted or have delicate points
that may break. We recommend storing a theme chess set in the box
that it came in or in chess board with a storage compartment that has individual
slots for protecting the set. We
offer storage chess boards that have either built-in trays or that can
accommodate the fitted tray in which the
chess pieces arrive. |
