2008 Updates: 

5/2008:  It appears the spammers are ripping me off by sending out all kinds or marketing (all bogus, of course) using my email address as the source.  I'll say it once again:

I NEVER SOLICIT BUSINESS VIA EMAIL.  I have never send out a mass mailing, I do not keep clients email addresses on hand, and I will NEVER email you first.  I will only reply to inquiries and questions sent to me.  If you did not email me first, ANY email that appears to be from my website is NOT from me and should be reported and discarded immediately.

4/2008:  Rybka will become a member of the ChessOutpost software library as soon as Rybka 3.0 comes out.  While the price of DGT boards is SOARING due to the weakness of the dollar, I am trying my best to keep it under the $600 mark but it is very difficult.  Every time I order boards I am hit with a price increase.  Make sure you get your DGT board while I still have stock.  Boards are flying out of my hands almost as fast as I get them!  I also believe I am one of only a very few United States businesses to sell them.  Most of my competition has left the DGT product line behind but I have been selling them since the year 2000 and I will continue to do so.  Reserve your board today!

2007 Updates:

12/2007:  All DGT Boards are BACK IN STOCK !!!  We can still get them to you for Christmas, but you need to hurry as this supply will not last long.  Happy Holidays to ALL!  I hope the 2007 Holiday Season is a happy one for everybody.

8/2007:   Stock on Rosewood Boards will be out until the October time frame my distributor tells me.  If you want a Rosewood board, then contact me ASAP if you want one when they become available.  I have a waiting list and will add you to it to ensure you get one when stock becomes available.  The next shipment may be the last before the holidays, so get in line now !

5/2007:  All DGT Board and piece options are back in stock!  Make sure you get yours now.  I can't keep prices down forever, but I will do my best to hold them.  Get yours now, before the upcoming Holiday season!  I move a lot of boards because I have among the lowest prices on the net, and include service that is second to none!

3/2007:    2007 is off to a flying start.  I could not keep a DGT board in stock no matter what I did!  I added the 4 combinations of boards and pieces that I do have.  I will also keep you posted on stock levels as best I can, but inventory moves fast.  If you order, and I end up being out of stock I will email you with the next expected date of stock.  If you decide you don't want to wait, no worries!  I'll give you the option of just refunding your money.  I won't hold your money unless you tell me to!  Try THAT with another website!  6 years and going strong.  Thank you, for your continued support.

2006 Updates:

12/2006:  Happy Holidays 2006 !  I am here, and have made some updates to the site until I can complete my new site.  I have removed items that did not sell well, to focus on what does sell well.  Thank you for your continued support!!

3/2006:  Happy Ides of March!  I am still here providing the finest service in the chess retail world.  Tons of questions, answers, and even a few purchases.  I am happy to assist as I can.  The Chess world is a MESS right now, so it is time to for change.  The ChessOutpost officially endorses Bessel Kok for FIDE president.  It is time to have a unified World Chess Champion, some good marketing people running the show, with the guidance of some of the chess players to keep the classical championship (via Matches !) intact.  Good Luck to Bessel !

10/2005:  Happy Halloween!  Fritz 9 is here October 31st, so get your copy today!  I am in the process of changing phone service so my phone/fax line will be back up shortly.  I'm stocking up for Christmas so make the ChessOutpost your Internet Chess Shop for Christmas 2005!

03/2005:  I am STILL HERE !  Sorry for web site delays.  Very busy with home and work life to update the site.  I am a one person operation and I apologize for being so slow on updating my site.  My service is still second to NONE however.  World class service with a personal touch.  That's what I promise to provide you with.  I keep my prices low, because I do this myself.  I may not be the flashiest site out there, but I am probably the most friendly.

2004 Updates:

10/2004: Stay tuned for ChessBase 9.  It will be out the second week of October.  For customers of mine that bought ChessBase 8, you MUST have your registration number on the back of your original to get the upgrade.   Email me!  I will be happy to work the upgrade for you.

06/2004:  Had to have my first price increase in 4 years.  The dollar vs. euro is really hurting everybody in the chess business that buys ChessBase products.  I am still about the cheapest on the Internet, and you get world class service from me as well.  Thanks for your continued business.  It is appreciated!

Also, the web store is gone and everything is through PayPal now.  I am cutting expenses everywhere I can to give you great chess products at great prices.

01/2004:  Happy New Year! More products and updated products as well.  Things change really quickly these days!

2003 Updates:

10/2003:  More products added with the PayPal purchase option.  Now there is a chess training link which has chess openings, middlegame, and ending software packages as well as some player collections.  More products are coming!

06/2003:  My tribute to Vasily Smyslov is finally up.  Just too busy with kids (and loving it) to get around to it, but it appears today.  I also added my privacy statement page.  To summarize, it says "I don't give anything out to anyone."  In the future I will send out an email announcing new products, etc, but that's if I get around to it.

05/2003:  PAYPAL Enabled!  You can now pay with your VISA or MASTERCARD directly from my site using PayPal.  Select the software you want to buy, and click the "Buy" button, and it will create a secure session with PayPal for you to complete your purchase.  It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here. 

You can still pay through the store!  That functionality has not changed.  I will be adding all the products from my store that are not here now, to my website shortly.  Stay tuned!

04/2003:  I have dropped my prices across the board.  You still get the same fast and personal service which has not changed at all!  It's my pleasure to make a good deal even better for you, the consumer.  Thanks for your support.

01/2003:  I have a new logo which was created by Mig Greengard.  If you have not checked out his site www.chessninja.com, DO IT!  It is a great site and his newsletters are nothing short of the finest.

I am still working towards allowing PayPal purchases on my site.  Hopefully by the spring I will have them working correctly.  Also, I am planning a new web site but am in the infant stages of this.  I need a more modern look and I admit it.  Getting the time to get there is another matter!  If you are a web designer with ties to chess, email me with some ideas.  Maybe we can do some business!

June 2002 Updates:

6/24/2002:  I added the "Wanted List" page which details chess items (books, computers, etc) that I wish to acquire.  We can negotiate a price, and/or incorporate a trade if you desire some items from my chess store.

5/17/2002:  Added some of my favorite Spassky games to Spassky's Page in my Champions sub-web.

5/1/2002:  I have added a Champions Page where I put my thoughts about Chess Champions and what I admire about these players.  They do not have to be World Champions, but they fit the bill for what I deem a champion is, which includes important contributions, good character, and some great games to look over.  In the future I will add games from each of these players, but one thing at a time.

April 2002 Updates:

Changes at the ChessOutpost!  The telephone numbers have changed because I have moved.  I have to apologize for the FAX number issue.  The same phone/fax number is correct.  However, my FAX machine which has answering machine capabilities was not working.

The new FAX/Answering machine has been installed and works.  I do not staff the office full time, but please leave a message and a convenient time to call, and I will happily return your call.  I should answer all calls within 24 hours time unless I am out of town or something.  Or, if you want to FAX me some questions or an order, feel free to do so and I will handle it within 24 hours.

I have also reduced the items in my store.  I like my Web Host, and although their plan does not suit me that well, I am sticking with them.  I have eliminated all the House of Staunton Chess Sets.  I did not sell one, nor did anyone ask, so that was an easy one to eliminate.  I have also eliminated the Jacque sets for the same reason.  A lot of prestige, but no sales, so out they go.

Now my store is lean, but still offers a nice variety of software and the DGT boards.  I can special order from ChessBase, so if you see something you want, that I don't have, then send me an email and I will get you a price!

May 2001 Updates:

This site was created and published in May, 2001.  I started this site and store with shallow pockets, but a true love of the game.  Although I do not play much chess anymore (children make sure of that), I follow it religiously .

My goal is to give you great service.  All software is shipped free of charge in the U.S., and I email you a tracking number so you can track your purchase to your residence.  My goal is to ship ALL orders the next business day.  So far, I have achieved a 100% success rate on this goal.  Nothing annoys me more than getting excited about an order, and then have to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive!  Not at the ChessOutpost!  That is my pledge and my promise to you, in exchange for your business.

I also want to give you the products that will help you improve your game.  Please send me an email to let me know if you think my store should have some products you would like to see.

This site will be a work in progress, to provide you with some entertainment as well as chess related products.  Eventually I will be posting chess problems for people to solve, but that will be a future enhancement.
