First the good news. It has one of the nicest 3d boards I've seen in a chess program. But other than that this really isn't a great product. The opening book is laughingly predictable inasmuch as it plays the same opening every single time. Whether this is a problem with the original program, or the port is unknown. MacPlay has not gotten back to me on this. Even without this glaring problem, there is little to recommend this IMHO. There is no documentation (not even a PDF on the CD), few useful tutorials or classic games to study, no way to customize opponents or set up tournaments... I was very disappointed with this title. I would have to say either save your money for CM9000 (I have it on my PC and it's awesome), or buy Sigma Chess or Vektor Chess for your Mac. This one is a real coaster in my chess library. |
