Also in the most recent official web site update, a chat room was added
which you may want to check out.

An Honest Tune's Tour Docket,
and Pollstar.
If your tastes run to more official information, you can go straight to
the band's
tourdates page.
Dave Rapetti hosts the KyndVeggieShow in Nashville, TN

prominently.
Radio station WWOZ in New Orleans, LA

great music year-round.
Check out Panic Radio for
streaming audio of recorded live shows.
Also, go straight to The
Goods.

list Spreadnet. If you would like to subscribe or (if you are already

Digital-Panic Mailing List
This file contains some information about the Widespread Panic digital
taping and trading mailing list Digital-Panic. If you would like to
subscribe or (if you are already subscribed) change any of your
subscription options you can read how in this file. Also, Kenyon Hall is
continuing a list of
soundboards in circulation that Bobby Moore started some years back.
WSP_Info
Mailing List
Aaron Stein runs the wsp_info list as a way of spreading basic information
like tourdates and setlists. This is a very low volume list so it is
definitely worth it to sign up. You can see archives of the wsp_info
list to get an idea of the information Aaron posts.
Spreadnet
Archives
Our archives contain ALL posts to the list (since our beginning on 6
August 1994) in an easy-to-read format. This means you can read the
spreadnet without subscribing to the mailing list. The archives recently
changed and are using a new program provided by L-SOFT, the folks who make
the Listserv software. The new look will take a little getting used
to....
Regional Mailing Lists
Panic fans in Boston,
California (both Northern and Southern), the Carolinas, Colorado, Memphis, Pacific Northwest, Texas and Washington, DC, have all
started mailing lists to coordinate concert-going and other get-togethers.
Online CD-R / Shorten Trading List
This is a relatively
new mailing list started by Alan Schwartz to help the spread of Widespread
Panic shorten files. That's the format people use for high-quality
digital music on PCs.
The Gateway: Clean and Sober Widespread Panic Fans
This group and
their discussion
list provide a forum for Widespread Panic fans in recovery from
substance abuse.
Web-Based Chat Rooms
Brian Harris (of WSP tapecovers fame) set up this
chatroom on the web.
Thanks Brian. Sorry this link got temporarily deleted in the most
recent Spreadnet web page update.
Live Music and Recordings:
Tour Dates
The band's tour information always seems to come out bit by bit instead of
getting announced all at once. Luckily Dave and Gumby are collecting all the rumors and announced dates
and making them available on the web.
Online Audio
In the Spreadweb Sound Room we've got JB singing
the Star-Spangled Banner at a UGA baseball game and the songs that were
debuted at the Athens Light Fuse Get Away release party on
4/18/98. Thanks to Bobby Mitchiner for getting this stuff into the
Realaudio format.
Widespread Panic Tape/DAT/CD-R Covers
A bunch of different people are maintaining collections of tape/DAT/CD-R
covers for live recordings.
I'll add more links in this section just as soon as someone sends them to me.
Tape Flips Web Page
Those of you taping and trading live music on DAT or CD-R know how much of
a hassle it can be to make analog tapes without having information in
advance on where to break up a set of music across the tape flip.
Thankfully Matt Kazmierski is helping out by collecting all these bits of
information in one place; many shows don't have tape flip times yet, so if
you can contribute please see the page and contact Matt directly.
Tape Trading Web Sites
The famed Sandbox is back after a
hiatus, thanks as before to the work of Brian Sofer. Also the WSP Traders Club has recently been
started.
Everyday Companion:
Setlists
Ted Rockwell and Will Duckworth have compiled years of Widespread Panic
history and setlists in this book / website along with photos, stories,
tour maps, and other goodies.
Statistics
Scott Holcomb is working with Ted Rockwell on the statistics part of the
Everyday Companion. A new feature is the tour-by-tour
statistics.
The
Spreadsheet: Song Histories
Bryan Irby is also working with Ted Rockwell and is principally
responsible for "Ths Spreadsheet" -- an ever-growing list of the songs
that WSP has chosen to play in concert. Everything from the Talking Heads
to the Grateful Dead and from Robert Johnson to Dr. John is documented,
along with all the original songs and instrumentals.
Lyrics
Scott Holcomb, Bryan Whitman, Daniel Gold and a number of other
contributors are responsible for the well-documented lyrics. The lyrics
web pages are now part of everydaycompanion.com.
Tablature and Chords
Scott Holcomb has taken on responsibility for the chords archive, which is
a good thing since he's a guitarist and I'm not. Scott is also soliciting
bass transcriptions so help him out if you can. The chords pages are now
part of everydaycompanion.com.
Other Stuff:
Various Interviews
At different times and for different reasons, people have conducted
interviews with various members of the band. This includes on-line chat
transcripts, too. There's a lot of good information on WSP history in these,
so read carefully.
The Alyrical Miracles Page
Widespread Panic's instrumentals are a source of endless confusion. This page explains the different tunes. It was taken from one of the issues of the first incarnation of the Panicle. So far there are three kind of big sound clips on line too so you can tell the difference between A of D, B of D, and Disco. These three songs cause the most confusion of all. A major update is coming soon.
Notes From The Studio, 1999
While bassist Dave Schools was holed up with the rest of the band at the
John Keane Studios in Athens GA recording the next Widespread Panic album
(which turned out to be 'Til The Medicine Takes), he managed to
find time to give us an occasional email update on the goings-on there.
Messages include:
1) setup; 2) tracking; 3)
mixdown.
Light Fuse Get Away
Part of the game with Widespread Panic's 1998 2-CD live album is to figure out from which shows the recordings were taken. With input from people on Spreadnet, we have an complete list of our best guesses.
Spreadnet's Frequently Asked Questions File -- not a final version but check it out anyway!
At long last, answers to many common Widespread Panic-related questions. You can find out about everything from the band's office telephone hotline number to the origin of the band's name to what kind of instruments they play. This file will be revised again soon but here's an initial look at it.
Other Widespread Panic Related Web Sites:
Official Widespread Panic
Web Site
Self-explanatory, I think. Tourdates as they are arranged, merchandise,
music downloads, chat room, and other official from-the-band information.
The most recent major upgrade is looking really good.
An Honest Tune
An Honest Tune is a (usually quarterly) magazine put out by some people who first got together on the Spreadnet and who are still active and appreciated contributors. The emphasis is on WSP although other bands are covered as well. They're always looking for new subscribers and contributors so take a look at the site. Also, you may see the people behind this project with free handouts called Drivin' at shows.
Panic Fans For Food
Panic Fans For Food collects food and money donations before Panic shows
in order to help those less fortunate in the towns the band and their fans
visit. Since the group's founding in 1999 they have collected literally
TONS of food. Hopefully we can do even more in the future.
Jambands.com
Jambands.com is an on-line music magazine founded by Spreadnet subscriber
and Phishing Manual author Dean Budnick. JamBands is published
monthly and features regional coverage from around the country,
interviews, tourdates, etc. Especially check out the daily news updates
and "Box Scores," which posts the previous night's setlists from many
bands.
PauseRecord
PauseRecord is another great on-line music magazine. They're especially good
with keeping up with and linking to relevant news articles on other music
sites.
Michael Sheehan's Further Images
site
Lots of great photography from Mike Sheehan including a LOT of Widespread
pictures.
Athens GA
Newspaper Web Site's Widespread Panic Page
The Athens GA newspapers Athens Daily News and Athens Banner
Herald have a web page linking to articles about the band that previously
appeared in their pages through the years.
The Spreadnet Web Site is always growing. Check back soon for more goodies.
