1 pm Nunez Community College

The newly organized St. Bernard Chess League held a simultaneous chess exhibition at Nunez Community College in Chalmette, Louisiana, on Saturday, March 20, 2004.  New Orleans Chess Master and author of The Italian Gambit System, Jude Acers, "The Man in the Red Beret," two-time world record holder for simultaneous chess play, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, was kind enough to host the kick-off event!

The elementary and middle school students pictured with Mr. Acers are CURTIS CARTER, JENSON GRENNER, JOSEPH GRENNER, TAYLOR TOUCHET, TYLER TOUCHET, TYLER HESTON, and MATTHEW POLOMA.  Tyler Heston was the "Last Man Standing" at the event.

Mr. Acers has graciously agreed to play the League's K-12 school students next year on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Nunez Community College.  Chancellor of Nunez Community College, Thomas R. Warner, presented Mr. Acers with a commendation from the Louisiana House of Representatives.
