Operations Assistant - 2011 NCAA Division I Mens Lacrosse
at Gillette Stadium, hosted by Providence College
Providence
College will be hosting the New England Lacrosse Classic, an
NCAA Division I Lacrosse event with Providence College taking
on Syracuse University and Princeton University taking on Dartmouth
College. The games will be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro,
MA. The athletic department seeks a highly motivated individual
to fill a seven month operations assistant position to help
in coordinating all facets of preparation for the event. The
position will begin on or around November 15 of 2010 and would
end in May 2011.
The
Operations Assistant will assist the Tournament Director, Tournament
Manager, Media Coordinator and Facility Manager in all aspects
of preparation. The individual will attend all meetings held
by each of these individuals, as well as any meetings scheduled
by the facilities and promotions staff at Gillette Stadium.
Additionally, the candidate will work closely with the Mens
Lacrosse Staff, the Admissions Office and the Development Staff
to create an event that benefits the College in numerous ways.
Experience
organizing and running collegiate athletic events is a plus,
as is knowledge and understanding of the High School and College
Lacrosse environment. The individual who takes on this position
also will be encouraged to work with other aspects of our Lacrosse
Program leading up the Showcase to gain valuable experience
that will benefit hosting a successful event on April 16, 2011.
The
candidate will assist the administrative team listed above in
the following areas (including, but not limited to): functions,
meetings, schedule of events, media, lodging, transportation,
facilities, games management, financial administration, merchandising,
licensing, promotions, logos/look, tickets and correspondence
with participating institutions personnel.
Proposed
monthly stipend of $TBA per month - benefits not included as
part of the temporary employment opportunity.

Description: Note: Hampden-Sydney College will extend the deadline

position will be open until filled. Responsibilities: Assist
head coach in the operation of the Hampden-Sydney College lacrosse
program; implement athletic department and NCAA policies; recruit
student athletes that meet the academic requirements for the
College.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Must be willing to work effectively
within the rules of the NCAA and the ODAC. Must have proven
organizational and communication skills. This is a full-time,
12-month position with benefits.
Responsibilities:
Knowledge of coaching team defense and individual defense preferred
yet not mandatory. The recruiting of qualified student-athletes
to Hampden-Sydney and our lacrosse program will be a major aspect
of the effectiveness of this position. Responsibilities will
include the prospecting and consistent communication with prospects
and recruits over a 12-month period. The successful candidate
will scout student-athletes at clinics, camps and high schools
on selected weekends during the fall months and during the months
of June and July, as assigned by the head coach.
