Army Aboriginal Community Assistance Program

Locations

AACAP 2009 will be conducted in the vicinity of Mapoon, Quensland, which is situated approximately 80km North of Weipa on the Cape York Peninsula. The region is isolated with seasonal road access necessitating the extensive use of RAN and RAAF support for the deployment of personnel, equipment and materials. The project includes the construction of three houses, and also the upgrading of local roads, water reticulation, telecommunications and septic system in the township. Additionally, a Health Promotion, Training and Treatment Program, as well as an Employability Skills Training Program will be delivered to members of the community.
The diagram below shows the locations of where AACAP has been delivered since 1997 and the site for 2009.
