Waitara to Waverton

Main North and North Shore corridor works

When Sydney Metro Northwest opens between Rouse Hill and Chatswood in 2019, capacity on the T1 North Shore Line will increase to 20 trains per hour.

To enable this increased capacity, work is underway between Waitara and Waverton stations, and around Epping Station.

About the work

Transport for NSW has engaged Laing O’Rourke to deliver the Main North and North Shore corridor works on the T1 North Shore Line between Waitara and Waverton stations, and around Epping Station. Work started in March 2016.

The majority of this work is carried out from inside the rail corridor. All works in the rail corridor are coordinated within the existing Sydney Trains maintenance schedule to reduce impacts to customers, and temporary rail replacement bus services are provided.

Properties close to the rail corridor will receive notifications from Sydney Trains when this work is scheduled to occur, including construction hours. Work includes signalling and electrical upgrades and track relocations.
