Ice plant (Delosperma). Flowering succulent, likes it hot and dry. If it's too wet in the winter the roots will rot. Can be invasive in warm climates but it doesn't spread too rapidly here.



Siberian iris. Much less finicky than bearded iris, with upright green leaves all summer. Drought tolerant once established.



Who's your daddy????. Big Daddy hosta; this clump is about 5 feet wide.



False indigo (Baptisa). Nice blue/purple flowers in the spring, good for cuttings. A legume, so it will grow in poor soil. Doesn't like to be transplanted once established.



Pasque flower (Pulsatilla). One of the earliest spring flowering perennials, the flowers are followed by fuzzy seed pods. A native prairie flower in the midwest and west.



Spring flowering moss phlox (Phlox subulata). Common variety that stays evergreen and comes in a variety of colors.



Common yucca. This one has flowered even though it's not in a totally sunny area.



Looking up at Oriental lily Scheherezade. This is a huge (over 6 feet tall), fragrant lily.
