Chess Puzzles: Beginner to Intermediate (click title)

Here are some chess puzzles that come from actual play, either from over the board chess tournaments, or from online chess games on the internet. Try not to blunder away too many of your pieces, as you learn how to play chess better. These chess puzzles concentrate upon finding the best tactical move or combination for a given position, to either hold the position or create a winning position. The focus is not on finding the most awe inspiring move, mate in x moves, or the most surprising sacrifice, but finding the most practical chess strategy, and hopefully, the best move for the ordinary everyday patzer. These puzzles are intended for intermediate to beginners, but anyone may find them useful as a quick refresher. If you are not familiar with chess notation, then please check out our Chess Symbol Quick Reference. The intention is to update this puzzle on a weekly basis, as time permits. If this series is not updated it is because we are busy improving the content of this website elsewhere, so be patient. Click here to be notified when new chess puzzles become available.
