04/04/05 Snowstorm
knocks out Mid-Ohio races scheduled for 4/2-3/05. 03/20/05 MARCUS
TEAM 1-2 AT ROAD ATLANTA - Rob Mau and Sunny Hobbs
Class of FFR Challenge Field. In
the second Factory Five Challenge Cobra race of the weekend
at Road Atlanta, Rob Mau started from the pole and took the
checkered flag, in the process setting a new lap record,
with Sunny Hobbs closing the gap to take the second spot. “A
few more laps and I could have gotten closer to Rob, but
today he was faster. We had a problem during the qualifying
session for this race, and the headstart Rob had in the race
was just too much in today’s sprint,” said Sunny
Hobbs. She started in the third spot for FFR Cobra's, eighteenth
overall in the multi-class field which included GTS and AI
cars. “I got held up by a car at the beginning of the
race and by the time I could get by him and the rest of the
group we were in I had no chance of getting to the front.
But after today’s start back in the pack, a second
place was a great finish, and the 1-2 for Marcus Motorsports
is terrific. Second today on top of yesterday’s win
makes a very satisfying weekend.” Hobbs and Mau will
be matched again in their Marcus Cobras at the Mid-Ohio road
course on April 2nd and 3rd. Sponsorship opportunities are
available for the remaining FFR Cobra Challenge races. 03/19/05 Sunny
and Marcus Motorsports win again!!! In the Season's
first race of Factory Five Cobra's, Sunny Hobbs streaked
to the win. "This is the second race in a row I've won
in a Marcus Motorsports Cobra. I like that combination, needless
to say." After taking the qualifying pole, Sunny started
in a field of 28 cars, and the competition was strong. "For
the last 10 laps, I passed and re-passed several cars which
I was racing with, and it was a blast!" Hobbs starts
the same car tomorrow in the second day of racing at Road
Atlanta.

8/5/04 PRESS
RELEASE - Sunny
Hobbs to Race New Smyrna Speedway - Holzer Motorsports
and DSX Synthetic Lubricants confirmed today its association
with SHE Racing and female stock car driver Sunny Hobbs,
beginning with the Volusia Pennysaver Night race for Late
Models at New
Smyrna Speedway, on Saturday August 7th. “New Smyrna
Speedway is a tough track, with good competition, and we are
looking forward to kicking off our program with Holzer. Crew
chief, Gene Allnutt, co-Owner of A&M Motorsports, and I
have known each other for years, including at my ARCA races
at Daytona and Atlanta Motor Speedway, and he has the experience
needed to put together a competitive late model.“ Hobbs,
in her 9 year race career, has raced late models, trucks, and
sports cars, and most lately in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Most
of her late model racing was at Caraway Speedway in North Carolina,
but she has raced at numerous other tracks in Virginia and
North Carolina. “New Smyrna is a high-bank track a lot
like Southern National Speedway, which I always enjoyed, so
I am excited about it. I am really appreciative of the time
and hard work Holzer Motorsports has put into making this deal
work. My fans continue to be loyal and supportive, and it is
looking like finally women racers are making some progress
in building long-term relationships with sponsors and competitive
race teams. Hopefully this deal with Holzer will be the base
for races this summer and fall, and for a full-time race schedule
in 2005.” More information can be found at www.holzermotorsports.com and

Summer
2003
Well, hello friends and fans! I know you have not heard much
from me lately and I've received many many emails from fans
asking when my next race is, so...I
thought I'd take a few minutes to tell you what I've been up to since my last
ARCA race. Basically, I've been spending countless hours on the phone and in
meetings and traveling to meet with team owners and potential sponsors to get
a race deal put together. Many times during the past 12 months I would have
said - "I have a deal that's 99% sure", and then, something has happened
to change that. Mostly, it's about money. Getting a solid company to back a
team is tough enough, but trying to do it in this economic environment has
been very very difficult. Although I know, and many people around me know,
that I have what it takes to be a successful NASCAR driver, it's hard to get
the dollars to prove it. I still have high hopes, and have been spending my
time focused on keeping myself sharp, fit and enjoying life. Of course, I still
have to make ends meet, and have a full-time job. Racing is my passion though,
and I am itchin' to get back on the track.
As you can see from the picture above, I spend a fair amount of my spare time
fishing. Click here for more photos of me off the track
this past year.
See you at the track!

Sunny Hobbs has car problems and finishes 33rd
in the ATLANTA
ARCA RE/MAX Pork The Other White 400k race. She had been as high as 18th
and was running in 20th position when her race day ended early. She had
completed 68 laps.
"After
qualifying 19th, I had pretty high hopes. We should have had a top 15
finish. I am disappointed, but that's just racing. We are really struggling
financially and I needed a strong run, which I had, but the results just
don't reflect it." Hobbs said
TOUGH DAY:
Attrition ruled the ARCA race at Atlanta. Frank Kimmel led the
first 51 laps before cutting a tire and hitting the wall. Tim Steele
rolled in and out of the garage. And Sunny Hobbs lost a lap, battled
back to 20th, then developed engine problems and had to visit the garage
again. The Richmonder settled for a 33rd. (Richmond Times-Dispatch,
Sunday March 10th)

thank Fast Track Apparel of Melbourne, FL for their sponsorship at Atlanta.

Speedway.
Thursday she did a few practice laps to get comfortable with the track.
Today Sunny picked up speed and had a qualifying lap of 30.982, or 178.943
mph. "I am very happy to qualify in the top 20, I just couldn't be
happier." Happy Hour starts after the Winston Cup Qualifying.

Hobbs to make History:
WOMEN
SET TO MAKE HISTORY AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
There will be three women at Atlanta Motor Speedway next weekend attempting
to make history. If Sunny Hobbs and Tina Gordon make the Pork The Other
White Meat 400 ARCA race and Shawna Robinson qualifies for the MBNA America
500 next weekend, it will be the first time in history that three women
will compete in one race weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The last time a woman made the Cup field was in 1977, when Janet Guthrie
did it. Robinson was the last woman to compete in an ARCA race at Atlanta,
nearly winning the event in Nov. 2000. There have never been two women
in the same race at Atlanta.
"I don't really think about making history or being the first - that's
not why I'm out here," Robinson said. "I just want to race."
That sentiment was echoed by both Gordon and Hobbs, who say they don't
mind being singled out for their gender but don't consider themselves
flag-wavers.
"I honestly don't even think about it anymore
when we get
in the car, everyone's equal," Hobbs said. "But it's true that
being a woman makes me more marketable to the right kind of company and
the right kind of team. But there are some drawbacks as well. This is
one of the few sports where woman are not yet on the same level as men."
Hobbs said that, too, is changing, with the influx of women in all levels
of racing and sports in general.
"I think this is a new generation of women, and we were all brought
up playing sports and being given a sort of equal ground," Hobbs
said. "With the success of the WNBA, women's soccer, women's golf,
there is a surge of women in athletics, and that's trickling down to
racing."
And as more women are entering races, the quality of female drivers is
improving. There are now women in most grass-roots leagues, including
Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thursday Thunder summer Legends racing series.
"The ARCA series is a great place to learn and grow, and financially,
it's more affordable and the cars are almost identical to Winston Cup,"
Robinson said. "I learned a lot running ARCA; it was tough racing.
Tina and Sunny are making the right choice, and I think you'll see them
do well."

HOBBS ENTERS ATLANTA ARCA RE/MAX EVENT
Sunny Hobbs and Andy Belmont confirmed Sunnys entry into the Pork
The Other White Meat 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, March
9th,. Sunny will be driving the #91 Ford Taurus for Andy Belmont Motorsports.
The second event of the 2002 ARCA RE/MAX Series will be her first experience
at Atlanta Motor Speedway. I really learned a lot at Daytona but
it will be a whole new ball game for me at Atlanta since the track is
so fast and unlike Daytona, we havent tested here.
A unique
aspect is that there will be three women at Atlanta Motor Speedway next
weekend attempting to make history. If Sunny Hobbs and Tina Gordon make
the Pork The Other White Meat 400 ARCA race and Shawna Robinson qualifies
for the MBNA America 500 next weekend, it will be the first time in history
that three women will compete in one race weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Hobbs is
still working on sponsorship for the Atlanta race, but as of now is
unsponsored. We havent changed our overall goal for the year which is
to run the full ARCA schedule and frankly, its gonna be very difficult
for us to continue without sponsorship after Atlanta. However, I am optimistic
and am staying focused on my game plan to get experience and race smart.
The race
will be televised on the Speed Channel - Monday, March 11 from 8 PM 10
PM eastern and have LIVE radio coverage on the Performance Racing Network
(PRN). For more information, visit http://www.sunnyhobbs.com

Update Hobbs Heading
to Daytona for ARCA Race
Sunny Hobbs
will attempt to qualify for the ARCA RE/MAX Daytona 39th Annual
Discount Auto Parts 200, Feb 10th, 2002 event. SHE Racing with driver,
Sunny Hobbs, has partnered with Andy Belmont Motorsports for this event.
Sunny, driving the #91 Ford Taurus, and Andy driving the #1 American
Online-sponsored Ford Taurus will be teammates. In addition to having
an
experienced teammate, Sunny will benefit from the fact that Andy has
recently added former ARCA crew chief of the year Jeff Lemons to his staff
as crew chief. Lemons, who served as crew chief for Frank Kimmel during
his
RE/MAX Series championship run in 1998, most recently worked as crew chief
for the L J Racing Busch Grand National team and Sabco Racing.
Tri-Star
Motorsports will provide engines for both of the Belmont teams.
"Andy
has given us a great opportunity to run in the ARCA series, and we're
very pleased to start with his team."
SHE Racing
also announced sponsorship for the Daytona race by Classic &
Muscle Car Super Stores, Harbor Federal, Greg Construction, Law Offices
of
Arthur W. Niergrath and Con's Cycle Center.
Andy Belmont
Motorsports and SHE Racing are engaged in putting together the
sponsor package for the entire season, and according to Sunny Hobbs, "We're
working on one-race deals, but would certainly prefer it if a major sponsor
stepped up to help out." As for the plans for the race, Hobbs said
"We
tested very well during the December test session at Daytona, and now
we
have essentially a new car for the race. Hopefully, it will be fast out
of
the trailer. Our plan is to get into the field, and try to be there at
the
end. We know how important practice will be because of qualifying with
a
large number of cars. Hobbs went on to say, "I'm really pumped about
racing
at Daytona."

St. James to present "Winners Circle for Diversity Program"
Jan. 15, 2002. Lyn St. James will make a presentation on Diversity, specifically
women in racing on the NASCAR Busch preseason media tour in Charlotte.
Several women drivers will attend including Sunny Hobbs. Confirmed panel
members at the presentation include : Dr. Jacques Dallaire - Human Performance
International, Derrick Walker - CART / IRL Team Owner, Humpy Wheeler -
Lowe's Motor Speedway. Ms. St. James comments will include that "women
with driving goals and initiative cannot typically fund their own racing
efforts due to the costly nature of racing," and "sponsors tend
to link motorsports business opportunities with male driving candidates
since their exposure to women drivers is limited." Lyn feels that
the future gains for women drivers depend upon the vision and commitment
of progressive individuals and companies.
