Caught On Tape: Brutal Mugging In NYC

A mugger hit a woman so hard she fell past the wrought iron gate and landed on the pavement. In full view of a video camera, the thief followed his victim in, grabbed her purse and ran.

CBS station WCBS-TV obtained surveillance footage of the vicious attack, which occurred Monday around 6:40 a.m. in Brooklyn, New York. The woman was accosted by the suspect shortly after parking her car.

The victim is a 62-year-old math enrichment teacher. She hasn't been back to work since the incident.

Reputed Gambino Leader Pleads Guilty To Extortion

A man reputed to be the consigliere of New York's Gambino crime family has pleaded guilty to extortion charges.

Joseph Corozzo was one of 62 alleged mafia associates rounded up in February and charged with a long list of crimes dating back to the 1970s.

On Friday he pleaded guilty in federal court in Brooklyn to charges that he conspired to extort a Staten Island cement company. Prosecutors dropped a charge that he was involved in drug trafficking.

The plea bargain calls for him to serve between four and five years in prison.

NY man wolfs down 15-plus slices of pizza

Sal Carbone is a pizza-eating machine, any way he slices it. Organizers said the Brooklyn man wolfed down a tad more than 15 slices to beat his own record, 15, in a competitive chowdown Sunday.
