Pelosi Endorses Leno In Dem. Primary State Senate
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has endorsed state Assemblyman Mark Leno in a contentious Democratic primary for state Senate.
Pelosi announced her endorsement in an appearance with the three-term San Francisco legislator in the city Saturday.
Leno is running against incumbent state Senator Carole Migden and former state Assemblyman Joe Nation for the district encompassing Marin County and parts of San Francisco and Sonoma County.
The race has split California Democrats, with the state's two U.S. Senators supporting Migden and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom backing Leno.

Thousands Participate, Watch SF Carnaval Parade
The sun shined on San Francisco's Mission District Sunday as thousands of costumed dancers and musicians made their way through the heart of the neighborhood for the city's annual Carnaval Grand Parade.
The parade, part of the two-day Carnaval San Francisco 2008 event that began Saturday, kicked off at 24th and Bryant streets, traveled to Mission Street, and then along 17th Street to the festival area.
An estimated 300,000 people attended the parade, according to festival organizers.
