pawn52: Man! My hand is killing me. I just got out of a lecture on playchess.com w/ GM Alterman. He was talking about the Benko Gambit today. I managed to get 4 pages of notes down. My hand feels like it was taking notes down in Biology.

pawn52: Just in case you guys are interested, he'll be talking about ideas for White in the Benko Gambit next Sunday at 3:00 EST. Tomorrow's lecture has one of the grandmasters (I forget his name) talking about some key games in the Kramnik-Leko WCC match.

whiteshark: From chessgames biography: <He is an advisor to the Deep Junior chess program.>

Are you sure about it? I thought it was a short relationship as Amir Ban once said in an interview on Junior 9 CD.

"Chess helped me to improve my character and understand a lot of interesting ways of the world" (Alterman)

I think he was the "Opening Book" specialist

whiteshark: Thanks for the clarification, <myschkin>.

But is he still doing the opening book for DJ or was it only for the match against Kasparov back in 2003?

Well, anyhow, here is a nice lecture by Amir Ban from June 2008: http://gilkalai.wordpress.com/2008/...

Sep-13-08   myschkin: . . .

<shark> I know nothing whatsoever about DJs ... apart from the chess blues http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/... ^^
