Eremerus (foxtail lily). A perennial that sends up long, fluffy flower plumes in early summer. This flower is only about 8 inches long; the flowers seem to be larger (up to 3 feet) for the varieties that are less cold hardy.
Bright edge yucca. A smaller yucca that only grows to about 18 inches tall, but sends up attractive 4 foot flower stalks in summer.
Asiatic lilies. These aren't as fragrant as the trumpet (Easter lily) types and flower a bit earlier.
Purple stokesia (Stoke's aster). Flowers in mid-summer and likes sun.
Orange Punch canna lily. The flowers hang down pendant-like instead of being upright like most other cannas.
Willow leaf helianthus. A very tall perennial sunflower that blooms in the fall. This one grows more than 12 feet tall, and goldfinches love the seeds.
Cherokee Sunset black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia). A beautiful variety that has both semi and fully double blooms on long stems.
