lucid dreaming

i tried lucid dreaming exercises out of the pages of OMNI magazine around 1984.  when i stopped doing the exercises was about the same time i stopped remembering my normal dreams.  since 1985, i have never remembered a single dream.  several times i've been at the stage where i woke up from some nightmare, thinking to myself "i HAVE to remember this one", but i fall back asleep and end up not remembering.  the thing is, at this point, i don't want to remember my dreams.  since 1990 i feel that i'm living in them.  i feel that the morning i wake up and remember my dream, is when the good stuff ends.  it's been really good the last ten years. - @Om* 12/3/99
 

my personal theory on dreams is this: some people say that this is the time we get rid of "crud" built up by our internal linkCNS as it internal linkprocesses data (like the "purge" command, or "compact" command... basically, the CNS is very busy while conscious in internal linkfiltering and adjusting to different internal linkfrequencies to create internal linkperceptual reality.   this wild foray during the course of a normal day, excesses "build up" and we have to get rid of it.  the filtered and processed internal linkinformation then gets uploaded in clean form into the morphogenetic field.   - @Om* 6/17/02

"One of the most ancient and most celebrated images of the internal linkshaman is a scene that was painted in the Lascaux temple cave twenty thousand years ago.  It depicts a male figure, arms spread like wings, with an erect penis.  Behind him is his bird-staff; tossing its horns before him, an enormous bull.  The shaman is journeying in internal linkecstatic internal linktrance. Sleep-laboratory techicians started noticing back in the 1950's that penile erection in men is often associated with the REM state; they are just getting round to observing the corresponding, but subtler symptoms in women.  What the men in white coats have not told us is what was known to the artist of Lascaux, twenty thousand years before EEGs: that penile erection (in men) is the most consistent physical re-action associated with a journey out of the body.  This is more than a casual side effect. I haven't seen too many around lately. Things have been tough lately for dreamers. They say dreaming is dead, that no one does it anymore. But it's not dead, it's just been forgotten. Removed from our internal linklanguage. Nobody teaches it so no one knows it exists. The dreamer has been banished to obscurity. Well, I'm trying to change all that now, and I hope you are too. By dreaming every day. Dreaming with our hands and dreaming with our minds. Our planet is facing the greatest problems it's ever faced, so whatever you do, don't be bored. This is absolutely the most exciting internal linktime we could have possibly hoped to be alive. And things are just starting.
