Question:
I am a U.C. Santa Barbara student and I am trying to gather info on a study abroad trip to New Zealand. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion of a good university in a good location to check out.

Answer:
Good is very subjective - what are you looking for in a location... in a uni...? There are only 7 full universities in NZ (plus some Institutes of Technology that award degrees): Auckland, Victoria (in Wellington), Canterbury (in Christchurch) and Otago (in Dunedin) are the long established, city universities which offer almost all traditional subject areas. Massey (my alma mater in Palmerston North) was originally an Ag/Vet/Hort/Food Tech place but now has most of the usual business & arts stuff as well. It has a second campus at Albany, north of Auckland. Waikato is a newish uni, in the country town of Hamilton - noted for trendy Liberal Arts & education but also teaches Science and Law. Lincoln, the newest "UNI", was a long established agricultural college, near Christchurch, now mostly noted for environmental sciences & resource management.
