chezzy: Koneru is a hard nut to crack as we have seen earlier.
Sep-12-08   Shockwave: maybe a ruy lopez again
Sep-12-08   Shockwave: Koneru chooses the pirc/modern! i can never tell the difference...

  twinlark: Pirc. Modern Defence.
Sep-12-08   jacqueslaumone: <Koneru chooses the pirc/modern! i can never tell the difference...>

When in doubt, just call it the Ufimtsev... or the Robatsch... or the Yugoslav... ;-)

Sep-12-08   jacqueslaumone: Anyway, I think this is a Modern defence because Black didn't play Nf6.
Sep-12-08   jacqueslaumone: Humpy's in serious time trouble already...

  twinlark: 27.Nf6+ wins
Sep-12-08   Shockwave: i cant keep track of whats going on
Sep-12-08   cannibal: Humpy did her best to mix things up, but this time she won't come back. Hou is through to the finals.
Sep-12-08   jacqueslaumone: Okay, this looks impossible for Hou to lose. So we have an ideal final: the best looking player against the child prodigy!

PhilFeeley: Two great, aggressive players in the final. This should be good.
Sep-12-08   s4life: Congrats to Yifan! she deserved this. BTW, I think this semifinal bracket was way stronger than the other one... I expect a one-sided match for the final, but we'll see.
Sep-12-08   Blackreptile: last game is the Hippopotamus variation of the modern defense (already played by Humpy a few years ago)

HOU-là-là!!!

French speaking kibitzers will understand :sorry,no traduction in english

Xenon Oxide: Wow. Hou Yifan bounces back after a shocking loss in the standard game yesterday. With this kind of coolness and ability to recover from losses, she could soon become a formidable force in top level chess, like Polgar, for example.
