Summary
of Play
Each player in Bosworth controls
a small kingdom represented by the 16 pieces of a chess set
(8 Pawns, 2 Rooks, 2 Bishops, 2 Knights, 1 Queen, and 1 King).
A player's pieces will enter the battle through the four-space
field camp (located along the side of the board) controlled
by that player.
To begin, players place one of their pawns in each of their
four field camp spaces. Their remaining 12 pieces are shuffled
and stacked to form a draw pile. Players then draw four game
pieces for their hand.
After completing the set-up, players will have four pawns
in their field camp, four game pieces in their hand, and the
8 remaining game pieces in their draw pile.
On his or her turn, a player must do the following:
- Using the standard movements of chess pieces, the player
must move one of his or her game pieces. If the piece's
movement ends on a space occupied by an opponent, the opponent's
piece is captured.
- After moving, the player must fill any vacant space(s)
in his or her field camp, with a game piece from his or
her hand.
- Finally, the player draws a game piece to bring his or
her hand back up to four.
Play proceeds clockwise using the same turn sequence for
each player.
When a player captures an opponent's King, that opponent
is eliminated from the game. All of the defeated players game
pieces are then removed from the board, and the capturing
player receives the defeated player's Queen as a reward The
player controlling the last surviving King wins the battle
of Bosworth Field.
