TIPS

To transition a toddler from a sippy cup with handles and a spout to a regular cup, give the child a small plastic cup with no handle. The child must use< two hands to hold the plain cup and control the liquid versus carelessly holding a handle of a sippy cup with one hand. This worked for our Ava, reports her mother, Barbra.

Whenever you do something special with a youngster, like go to the zoo or have a picnic, take lots of pictures.  Make sure to get 4x6" prints.

Purchase a thin photo album (brag book) that will hold photos up to 4x6", ideally, two 4x6 spaces per page, one above the other.  Arrange the pictures in order and insert them into the top sections only of the brag book.  Add a simple description of the picture to be read by or to a child (photo on top, story below per page).

Ta Da !!  The child has her own personalized story.  Entitle it:  The Adventures of child's name here.

While explaining the concept of going to the dentist to a child, have them lie in a reclining chair and play "dentist." It will help them understand what to expect.   Amy Kaczynski, WI
